CityBuild Academy

CityBuild aims to meet the demands of the construction industry by providing comprehensive pre-apprenticeship and construction administration training to San Francisco Residents.

CityBuild began in 2006 as an effort to coordinate city-wide construction training and employment programs by setting aside funds to catalyze city departments, community-based organizations, trade unions, and construction contractors to collaborate their efforts.

 What Our Graduates Are Saying:

"When I first came to MHH I was just looking for anything, any job I could get my hands on would have done me fine. I have a family to take care of, I had just been released from being incarcerated, and my options were limited. I heard about a construction based program called CityBuild Academy, I went for an orientation then through MHH‐Job Readiness Training focusing hard on what my options were.

I started the academy kind of skeptical at first but it turned out to be great! All of the instructors were great; they showed the class the basics of construction work. When I started I had a little construction work experience so the class went by pretty easy besides the math class. So 3 months go by pretty fast and its graduation time. I graduated Citybuild at the top of my class, for me it was something special. I had been offered a job with Webcor Builders as a Laborer through Local 261, 3 days before graduation. I started out as a 4th period apprentice Laborer making $21.51!

I am now a Journeyman earning $26.89; it feels so good to be making an honest living! I just really want to say thank you so much to Lilli Morales and all of Mission Hiring Hall for all of their hospitality and for helping those who are in situations like how I was back then.
Thank you CityBuild!" ‐‐Thomas McGinnis, CityBuild Cycle 10
