Services for Veterans and their Spouses
Child Support Services
The Department of Child Support Services (DCSS) has teamed with the One Stop Career Link System to work with non-custodial parents. Jobs Support, operated by DCSS, is a program designed to increase the likelihood of a parent obtaining employment and meeting his/her child support obligation.Under this program, participants are provided with the resources necessary to obtain employment, including access to career centers, a work readiness evaluation, employment training programs, and up-to-date job listings.
Services for Older Americans—Benefits Check-Up
The One Stop Career Link Center offers the Benefits Check-Up services for older Americans. Many older Americans need help paying for prescription drugs, health care, utilities and other basic needs. Ironically, millions of older Americans — especially those with limited incomes — are eligible for, but not receiving, these benefits from existing federal, state and local programs. Ranging from heating and energy assistance to prescription savings programs and income supplements, there are many public programs available to seniors in need.Benefits Check-up is the nation's most comprehensive Web-based service to screen for benefits programs for seniors with limited income and resources and provide information on how to apply for them.
Benefits Check-Up includes more than 2,000 public and private benefits programs from all 50 states and the District of Columbia, such as:
• Prescription drugs
• Nutrition (including Supplemental Nutrition Assistance (SNAP)/Food Stamps)
• Energy assistance
• Financial
• Legal
• Health care
• Social Security
• Housing
• In-home services
• Tax relief
• Transportation
• Educational assistance
• Employment
• Volunteer services
Services for Veterans and their Spouses:
Though our partnership with the Employment Development Department, four of the One Stop Career Link Centers: Civic Center, SOMA Center, Mission Center , and Western Addition Center have specially-trained staff to ensure veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces receive maximum employment and training opportunities. Services include counselling, labor market information, job referrals, job search workshops, and job development with potential employers. All veterans are eligible for the Veterans Intensive Program.Special assistance is available for veterans with service connected disabilities.
Veterans and their spouses are entitled to receive a priority in service, which includes:
• A 24-hour “Veterans Only” hold on all new job orders received by the CalJOBSSM labor exchange system.
• Placement of qualified veterans' résumés before non-veterans' résumés on job order screens that are viewed by EDD staff or prospective employers
Assistance by Veterans Specialists who are dedicated to providing priority employment and training services to veterans.

A virtual library of videos created to help job seekers with a range of issues from surviving a layoff, planning a job search, to a tutorial on how to use the hiresf.org website.
